This will not be like our previous blog posts, filled with updates and pictures of our construction progress. During these uncertain times, we want to give a massive shout-out to the folks that have welcomed Old Thunder with open arms: The Borough of Blawnox.
While small in geographical region, Blawnox is mighty in its community members, who support each other in times of high and low. None of this would be possible without the continued support of the Blawnox Borough Council. The teams at Emergency Management, Public Works, Parks & Recreation, the Volunteer Fire Company, and countless others, ensure that Blawnox is a safe and welcoming place to all that visit.
We have comprised a short list of the businesses in Blawnox that you should seek-out. This list is non-exclusive as we continue to explore the area for it's best kept secrets. Here are our highlights so far:
Curbside Coffeehouse was established in 2008. Kylee and the Curbside team do a wonderful job of making you feel welcome while serving up high-quality food, coffee, and smiles. Our personal favorites are the Buddha Bowl, Avocado Toast, and the PB Banana Honey smoothie. Curbside’s operational hours have changed slightly, so please visit their Instagram for the most updated information.
Fox Chapel Ski and Board is a family owned and operated ski and snowboard shop that services people of all ages and abilities. Winter will be here soon, so stop by to talk to their team about your next pair of skis or snowboard.
Blawnox Upholstery is owned by Miranda and Mike, who can meet all of your upholstery needs. They are currently designing and upholstering a custom bench seat for the Old Thunder taproom. Be sure to give them a call to schedule a meeting, as they are operating by appointment only.
Moondog’s / Starlite Lounge is exactly how a neighborhood restaurant should be. Both locations serve up awesome customer service along with stellar pierogies and a stuffed pepper soup that is out of this world.
Maenam Thai has had our hearts and bellies since conception of Old Thunder in Blawnox. The team at Maenam uses the freshest ingredients to create the most authentic Thai food in the area. Do not sleep on their Thai Ice Milk Tea.
Nox’s Tavern and Grille strives to be “Nox Your Ordinary Tavern”. Try some of Brittany and Jennifer’s world-class wings and Original Steamers for the juiciest burger in the area.
Integrated Industrial Technologies Inc. I2T provides custom fabrication, welding and complete turn-key machined products. Rob recently had the pleasure of visiting Carl and his team in their machine shop to record a video of our soon-to-be signage for the building. Take a sneak peek here.
While the list above features our most recent pit stops, we cannot forget about Allegheny Smokeworks, N Stuff Music, Tower Tire Inc., La Pizza Bella, Nonni’s Pizza, Rick's Barber Shop, and Overbeck Nursery and Landscaping.
