This is the formal announcement of Old Thunder Brewing Company:
We have been working on this brewery project for many years and after exhaustive diligence and searching, we have finally found our home in the Blawnox Borough of Pittsburgh, PA. The Blawnox Council and community members have been extremely welcoming and helpful to our little brewing company, and we couldn’t be more excited to produce and serve our beer here at 340 Freeport Road.
Our building on Freeport Road was built in 1939 and served as the Blawnox Post Office. It was decommissioned in the late 1980’s and was used for an antique shop with other small businesses located in the basement. Our construction team has been busy doing a full taproom renovation in the original post office building, while simultaneously building our new brewhouse building next-door.
In the past five months, we have done extensive demolition to the property and worked with our engineers and architects at PVE, LLC in Sewickley to design our vision of a brewery, and to secure local and state permits/approvals.
On February 1st of 2020, Brett Bloxdorf and his team at Bloxdorf Contracting started construction on the brewery and taproom buildings. Our entire engineering and construction teams are true professionals and are incredibly talented. It has been a pleasure working with them and watching them assemble the future home of Old Thunder Brewing.
We have included pictures of the demolition and construction progress. We expect to open our taproom early Fall of 2020.
See you soon,
Josh, Rob & Zach
