Saison Never Sleeps
An Ale aged in wine barrels
5 % abv
Back in May of 2021, we brewed the first Saison at Old Thunder (and there are plenty more coming). Comprised of Pilsner malt, wheat, and fermented with our favorite Saison strain, this beer was then transferred to wine barrels with our house mixed culture.
We bottled Saison Never Sleeps in January of 2022 and it has been conditioning ever since. We taste crisp stone fruit and fresh hay, balanced by oak, a bright lemon acidity, and a fruit-forward Brett character.
Saison Never Sleeps is available in the taproom starting this week.
We have a limited amount of bottles available ($15 per 750mL bottle), and we will also be pouring it on draft.
Reintroducing: 340 Lager
340 has been one of our house beers since we opened Old Thunder. With each iteration, we've made small tweaks and improvements (including the ingredients, processes, and equipment). The pursuit of the perfect Helles is a challenging journey, but we are really damn close.
We utilize the finest German Pilsner malt, Noble hops, and a historic Lager yeast strain, which creates an incredibly clean and malt-forward drinking experience. 340 Lager is succinct and endlessly-drinkable with notes of honey, fresh barley, and delicate hops.
The new can label was inspired by our building at 340 Freeport Road, which was built in 1939 as the Blawnox Post Office. Our artist (Rich Kelly), utilized the original number plate on the building for his new design.
340 Lager is available in the taproom this week, on draft and in cans to-go.
